High School Teacher

I really enjoyed high school, however the teachers have a big impact on the experience when it comes to anyone. One teacher I had I would call an experienced one. She’s been there forever, and she’s not going anywhere. She knows everything you need to now about the school, subject, and probably the janitor. She was a very hard teacher, but she made sure that you learned. She was challenging but was kind, encouraging, and reasonable. Another teacher I had was what I called an egotistical one. He’s fairly nice and is in love with himself, but that is really all. He usually was very out of it and did not seem to know what he was doing most of the time. He was very chill and let us do what we want, but we did not learn much. The third type of teacher I had was the fun one. She was extremely fun and made everyone laugh. She would easily be distracted sometimes and talk about crazy stories for long periods of time. However, I always loved going to her class. I knew it was going to be...

Friends

I may not have a bunch of friends, but I have a few that I hold close to my heart.   Luke is the type of friend that I would identify as a loyal best friend. He is always there for me, and I know I can count on him. He is faithful, truehearted, devoted, and reliable. He never judges me, and he does his best to support me in everything about. Autumn is my fearless adventurer friend. She is bold, brave, and courageous. She is always going somewhere new and exploring places. If you are ever feeling in the dumps, she is the one to call. She will take you somewhere and make you forget about all your worries. She is always there when I need her, and I know I can count on her. Imani is my wise mentor friend. She is always there to help when I have a problem and encourages me when I am feeling down. She is caring, loving, thoughtful, and trustworthy. She is a mentor that helps me when I have a tough time deciding what I want to do. I may not have the most friends, but I do believe I hav...

3/2

This illustration essay was a little tougher than my last essay. This essay involved me having to get references and using them to get information for my essay. This essay involved more examples. The last essay involved one scenario, however I had to think more deeply for the second essay. I was able to think about the last essay and just write it. For this essay, I had to prewrite. I created a web, an outline, and did some free-writing. It was a little harder to find the facts for this essay. I had to go through articles and find information that I found was interesting. I also had to find parts that validated the information I was trying to prove. The last essay was all about what I believed in, while this essay was more of illustrating and providing examples. I had to work on this essay longer than I did the first one because it required more work when writing it and making it flow together.

Citations

There are multiple reasons why you would need to cite information in the text of your essay. If you were to go and take a quote from someone, you would need to make a citation for it. You would put your citation on your works cited page, and you would also do an intext citation. If you were to go and take words from a website that was not a quote, you would still need to make a citation for that work. This is because those are not your own words, and you need to give the person credit for who wrote it. Failure to do so can result in plagiarism.

MLA

MLA formatting and MLA works cited pages can be quite confusing. The things that I struggle with the most is finding the information I need to complete my citation. An example of that would be going on a website and trying to find the publisher, trying to find the date it was published, and how many people wrote it. Another small problem I have is remembering how to write the date in MLA style. I must remember what months get abbreviated, and that the date comes first. Only thing I need to go over in class is how many I need for each essay. Other than that, I think that I know how to do it correctly.

College Students

College students often struggle to balance their schoolwork with the demands of everyday life. There are many things that a student can struggle with. They often have jobs, have children to care to, or either could be sick. I often myself struggle to keep up with my school work and doing other things in my daily life. One day, I had the flu. I had three tests the next day that I could not miss. There was no way around missing them and making them up because it was finals. I had to work through my sickness and go to class. I was able to talk to my teachers to be able to take my test alone because I did not want to contaminate other classmates. It did not make taking my test any easier, but at least no one else would be affected. Sometimes things might get in the way of studying and being sick did that for me. Sometimes if you stay organized, it can be easier to balance everything going on in your life.

Social Media

Social Media is detrimental to our face-to-face interactions with strangers. We tend to focus only on our phones and social media. We get so used to communicating on the internet that we do not know how to interact in person. People are forgetting how to communicate correctly. Not only is if effecting our manners, but it is causing people to have hated towards each other. Jealousy problems come with interacting with strangers that we do not know but see on our social media. We tend to stay to ourselves and on social media to interact with others instead of having face-to-face interactions. One time when I went to the Renaissance festival, there were people who did not do anything but sit on their phones. They did not interact with the people at the festival and missed a wonderful experience. We no longer feel the need to go and meet people because we just follow them on social media. It is causing our human interaction and having a negative effect on us.
